2021/22 LUERZERS ARCHIVE 200 BEST AD PHOTOGRAPHERS WORLDWIDE
Member of the AIPA
I first picked up a camera at the age of 14, spending my time shooting rolls of film and developing images in the darkroom. Immediately after becoming qualified in professional photography, I was offered an opportunity with one of New Zealand’s top Audio/Visual production companies. I spent seven years creating, developing and producing product launches for New Zealand’s largest corporations; using various types of multi-media from theatrical lighting to video/slide projection and interactive graphics, to set design and the most fun, pyrotechnics. During that time travelling around NZ, Australia, and the Pacific my path led me into a period working in television production as a cinematographer and editor.
My passion for photography and the desire to have my own business has allowed me to run a successful business for over two decades. Through my work, I have seen amazing areas of the world and met and worked with some of the country’s most talented individuals. My career has also allowed me unique opportunities in the world of sports stories from shooting world record wingsuit attempts and walking across Australia’s deserts, to courtside at American basketball games and behind the scenes access to IRONMAN.
I spend the majority of my time shooting advertising campaigns.
I take pleasure in the days when the outdoors can be my office and I am at ease in a studio environment. I enjoy working alongside retouchers to produce a finished result for a client. I shoot a diverse list of subjects including Portraiture, Action Sports, Still life, Landscape and Conceptual. Video production is also a part of what I create, and I have shot commercials, documentaries, travel and sports shows. Furthermore, I really enjoy coming up with new angles in images and I am always trying to make new mounts to get cameras in unique places.
In my spare time, I will be out riding my MTB, surfing, foiling, kite surfing, snowboarding and even maintaining MTB tracks. My work has also been featured in many international exhibits including Red Bull Illume’s world show, Mad Mike’s photo exhibit, and putting on the world’s first mountain bike photo exhibit. The exhibition had images shot by the world’s best MTB photographers and was held during the World MTB Champs in NZ. The beauty and excitement of this world keeps me travelling and discovering new places as much as possible.
