I first picked up a camera at the age of 14, spending my time shooting rolls of film and developing images in the darkroom. Immediately after becoming qualified in professional photography I was offered an opportunity with one of New Zealand’s top Audio/Visual production companies. I spent 7 years creating, developing and producing product launches for New Zealand’s largest corporations; using various types of multi-media from theatrical lighting, to video/slide projection and interactive graphics, to set design and the most fun, pyrotechnics. During that time traveling around NZ, Australia and the Pacific my path led me into a period working in television production as a cinematographer and editor.
My passion for photography and the desire to have my own business has allowed me run a successful business for almost a decade. Through my work I have seen amazing areas of the country and met and worked with incredibly talented people. I have been lucky enough to be part of and shot world record wing suit attempts, walking across the deserts of Australia and I have met some of the world’s most amazing athletes.
I take pleasure in the days when the outdoors can be my office and I am at ease in a studio environment. I enjoy working alongside retouchers to produce a finished result for a client. I shoot a diverse list of subjects including Portraiture, Action Sports, Still life, Landscape and Conceptual. Video production is also a part of what I create and I have shot commercials, documentaries, travel and sports shows and even pieces for the evening news. Furthermore, I really enjoy coming up with new angles in images and I am always trying to make new mounts to get cameras in unique places.
In my spare time I will be out riding my MTB, surfing, kite surfing, snowboarding and even maintaining MTB tracks. In fact in 2006 I organized the world’s first mountain bike photo exhibition. The exhibition had images shot by the world’s best MTB photographers and was held during the world MTB champs in NZ. The beauty and excitement of this world keeps me traveling and discovering new places as much as possible.
I am a member of the AIPA also
